How can I get my credit refunded?
If you're over £5 in credit after paying for a year, we'll automatically refund your credit back to your bank account as long as we've got an up-to-date meter reading from you.
If you're less than £5 in credit, we recommend you keep it there to give you a head start on your bills next year. But if you'd still like a refund, just get in touch and we'll sort it out.

Yes. But it's worth remembering that we figure out how much you pay a month based on how much energy we think you'll use over the year. So while you might find that during summer you have some credit, it's best to leave it alone so you're not suddenly in debt during the winter.

Getting a refund online
You'll need an online account first. If you haven't done so already, you can register for an online account here and then follow these steps. We'll refund you within four working days.

Log in to your account.
Select 'Manage account' for the gas, electricity or energy account that you want.
Click 'Get a credit refund' in the left hand menu or at the top right of the page.

What if I think my bill's wrong?

What should you check?

• Go back and look at your last couple of meter readings. If you haven't given us a meter reading recently, we've
probably estimated your bill. We'll happily change it if you send us a meter reading. You can do that online or
call our 24 hour automated meter reading service on 0871 789 0689

• See if your last meter reading was wrong. If we read your meter or you sent us a meter reading, there's a chance
it might be wrong.

• Make sure your bill isn't covering more days than usual. It might have been a longer billing period or there might
have been a bigger gap between meter readings.

• Look to see if we've added any money you owe us. If you didn't pay your whole bill last time, anything left over
will be on your new bill.

• Think about if you're using more energy. If there are more people in your house, you've bought some extra gadgets
or if it's got colder, you might just be using more.

• Check when your appliances last had a service. An old, inefficient appliance will use more energy, so you might
need to replace it to get your bills back down.

What else could it be?

• You have recently changed tariff. If the tariff you were on has ended or you've changed tariff, your bills have
probably changed as the unit rates may be different on your new tariff.

• Energy prices might have gone up. If our gas or electricity prices have changed, we would have sent you a letter
or an email telling you.
